What is a Psychological Evaluation?

A psychological evaluation involves an intake interview and the use of screening measures, and/or standardized assessment measures to gather information about a person such as their symptoms, capabilities, behavior, and personality.  Through this process the psychologist can make the appropriate diagnosis (or diagnoses), as well as individualized and specific recommendations to address your concerns.  

The primary benefit of getting a psychological evaluation is so that you can get a better understanding of yourself and the concerns that affecting you, and what you can do to address your concerns. 

Common reasons for psychological testing include:

A) Getting a better understanding of a person’s symptoms and personality traits.

B) Determining if a person meets criteria for a specific diagnosis such as autism or ADHD.

C) Seeking a better understanding of a person’s intellectual functioning.

D)    Determining how well a person is performing academically. 

E)    Identifying cognitive strengths and weaknesses.

F)    Identifying a person’s learning style.

What Are Your Fees?

Psychiatric Diagnostic Interview (intake interview): $275

Psychotherapy: $250 per session

Family Therapy: $250 per session

Consultation: $275 an hour

Testing: $250 an hour

The cost of a psychological testing varies and is based on factors such as complexity, if any records need to be reviewed, and the specific area(s) being assessed.  Every person’s situation is different, and an initial consultation will assist in developing a personalized evaluation plan.  The initial cost of the intake interview is $275.  This fee is applied towards the total cost of the psychological evaluation if you choose to proceed with testing.  A psychological evaluation typically costs approximately $2500.  

Do You Take Insurance?       

Ardent Psychological Services, PLLC does not accept insurance for any of the services provided.  However, if you would like to submit a claim to your insurance provider for out-of-network services, a statement detailing services and associated costs can be provided after your invoice is paid in full.  Payment is due at the time of your appointment.  For psychological testing the payment can be split between the intake, and the next appointment(s) if convenient.  Payment is accepted in the form of cash, money order, or credit card.  

Where Are You Located?

Ardent Psychological Services, PLLC is located at Southlake Town Square shopping area.  The office suite is located within Office Evolution, which is located on the second floor in the same building that houses Williams-Sonoma.  The entrance to Office Evolution is through large glass doors on the ground floor next-door to Williams-Sonoma.  There are stairs or an elevator to take you upstairs.  Once upstairs there is a receptionist who can assist you.  Parking is free.  If you are unable to find a parking spot in front of the building, there is also a large parking lot behind the building which always has empty parking spots.  For your convenience, there is another entrance to the office suites in the rear of the building through large glass doors.  Should you need help to find the office, please call Dr. Staal at (682) 477-8884 or the front desk of Office Evolution at (817) 268-9464.
